The Old Gods Are Thirsty

The Old Gods Are Thirsty is a cinematic promotional trailer created for my original werewolf horror novel of the same name.

Set against the unforgiving landscape of the American desert, the film follows a mysterious driver traveling a lonely stretch of highway. A vintage muscle car, an isolated road, and a subtle transformation in the driver's eyes build an atmosphere of unease. Something ancient is hiding beneath the surface.

The Creative Approach

Rather than relying on traditional horror imagery or revealing the monster, the trailer uses suspense, visual restraint, and cinematic pacing to create a sense of approaching danger.

The creative challenge was to translate the atmosphere of a written horror story into a compelling short-form visual experience—introducing the world of the novel without giving away its mysteries.

The Production

The trailer explores how AI-generated filmmaking can extend an original story beyond the printed page, using cinematic imagery, character-focused storytelling, and visual continuity to create a promotional experience.

The result is a piece of atmospheric genre storytelling designed to spark curiosity and invite viewers into the world of the novel.

Some monsters don't need to be seen to be feared.
