Where Music Finds Home — A Celebration of Vietnamese Culture | Featuring Sangeeta Kaur

A micro-documentary capturing the second annual Vietnamese Food and Music Festival at Studio Hill in Austin, Texas — an intimate outdoor gathering where food, song, and cultural identity converge under lantern-strung oak trees at golden hour. The film was directed by Jay Klein, invited to document the event by Grammy Award-winning Vietnamese-American vocalist and Studio Hill founder Sangeeta Kaur (ATX Woman) — the first Vietnamese-American singer to win a Grammy for vocal performance in all of history. (SANGEETA KAUR)

The documentary moves through the textures of the day — silk áo dài dresses catching afternoon light, red and gold lanterns swaying in the trees, a young girl in a traditional nón lá hat watching the world quietly from a dinner table, couples sharing food and conversation as the sun drops behind the Austin hill country. Interwoven are candid testimonials from attendees who speak to the rarity and beauty of the event, including tribute to visiting artist Khac Trieu — described in the film as the Vietnamese Bob Dylan of our time — who performed alongside singer Sisi.

The film is less a record of an event and more a portrait of a community finding itself, together, in a place they've made their own. Produced by Jay Klein Creative.
